Project Hessdalen - Comments to the interesting pictures from 2001

Previous year Next year

After the video-tape has been viewed and the interesting picture has been analyzed, it will get an Yellow-ball, that tell that it is still unknown, or Blue-ball, that tell that a solution is found.

On this page you will find the comments for each picture.

There were no camera watch from 7.July 1:30 PM until 26.July 11:30 AM. The reason is that (probably) the lightning had destroyed the video input on the SGI indy computer.

Blue-ball20010603050025 This is probably snow falling just in front of the camera. The video show that snow is falling.

Yellow-ball 20010425234758 The intensity of the light is decreasing while it is moving in direction up to the right, which should be north-north-east. The intensity is so weak that it cannot be seen any more when the second couter show 37. The video record for 8 more seconds, without any light is seen. The speed is about 0,48 °/sec. Based on NASA Satelite data there is no satelite, at that position, at that time. The closest satelite is Cosmos1867, but it is higher up above the horizon than this light. It is still unknown.
Yellow-ball 20010422000645
Yellow-ball 20010422000011
The video from the first picture shows the light standing still, while it is decreasing in intensity. When the second couter shows 48, it has become so weak that it cannot be seen anymore. The video record for 10 more seconds, without any lights is seen. Total "living" time is then 7 seconds. - The second picture shows the light decreasing in intensity while it is moving to the right, which is towards north. The speed is about 0,24 °/sec. When the second couter shows 19, it cannot be seen anymore. Total "living" time is then 10 seconds. The video record for 8 more seconds, without any lights is seen. - The lights position on the screen, on both pictures, is nearly the same on both pictures. The difference is what you can expect if this light is far out in the universe. It is then probably the same source located far out in the universe, on both these pictures. After the first "flash", it is standing on the same location, but after the second flash, it is moving towards right with a speed is about 0,24 °/sec.
Yellow-ball 20010420000626 No light can be seen on the video. The light has disappeared before the video start.
Yellow-ball 20010419001535 The intensity of the light is decreasing while it is moving in direction up to the right, which should be north-north-east. The intensity is so weak that it cannot be seen any more when the second couter show 10. The position is then very close to the edge of the camera. It is just before it has been out of sight. The video record for 10 more seconds, without any light is seen. Based on NASA Satelite data there is no satelite, at that position, at that time. It is still unknown.
Yellow-ball 20010413234302No light can be seen on the video. The light has disappeared before the video started. It is still unknown.
Yellow-ball 20010413222840A light standing still on the horizon, changing intensity all the time. This might have been some kind of driving vehicle, but it seems as it is standing still. The changing in intensity had been easier to explain if it had been moving. Difficult to deside wheter it should get a blue or yellow mark.

Blue-ball 20010322195139
Blue-ball 20010322195120
A nearly constant light, moving slowly towards north. Sometimes it does a flash, but not regulary, which is usually seen on planes. Difficult to deside whether it should get a yellow or blue mark. When it might be a plane, it has got a blue mark.

Yellow-ball 20010318202631There is not possible to see any light on the video-tape. It has disappeared before the tape started. Based on NASA Satelite data there is no satelite, at that position, at that time. The closest satelite is Oscar32, but it is higher up above the horizon than this light. It is still unknown.

When this web was down from 16.February at 8 PM, to 22.February at 10 AM, and from 22.February at 3 PM to 26.February at 11 AM, were no pictures from the camera recorded. The video-system worked, so sightning may be recorded on to video-tape during this time. No interesting recordings on video-tape during this periode.
Blue-ball 20010205190410A flashing light moving towards south. Probably a plane.
There were no camera watch between 22.January at 3 PM to 5.February at 1:30 PM.
There is no video-recording during the periode from 9.December 2000 until 5.February 2001. It is then not possible to find a solution to the interesting pictures in this periode. - In the first part there were a technical problem between the video-recorder and the computer. In the last part the computer was not working.

Interesting alarm-pictures from Hessdalen Automatic Measurement Station (AMS) is put here. It is those pictures from the alarm-page which cannot be solved at once. All these pictures will be more analysed. When that is finished, the picture will get a yellow or red ball.

The alarmpicture has a number that tells the time: The four first numbers are the year. Then you will find the month, the date, the hour, the minute and the second. Picture number: 20000101172036 will be: 2000 is the year, 01 is the month, 01 is the date, 17 is the hour, 20 is the minute and 36 is the second. The picture was taken the 01.January 2000, at 17:20:36. The clock in the picture shows summertime, which is correct only half of the year. The correct clock is the file-number.

It is the yellow (or the red) part in the picture which is the interesting light. It is a black-and-white camera in use. The computer program ( the software) put a color (yellow or red) on the part which made the software react.
