Project Hessdalen Launches OpenADS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 5, 2025

Project Hessdalen Launches OpenADS: A Global Initiative for UAP Research Collaboration

Hessdalen, Norway – In response to a growing global call for scientific cooperation in the study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), Project Hessdalen is proud to announce the launch of the OpenADS Initiative—an open, cloud-based platform designed to foster international collaboration, data sharing, and research innovation in the UAP field.

The idea for OpenADS was born at the Hessdalen Conference 2024, where researchers from around the world expressed a strong desire to unite their efforts. Since then, ongoing conversations have confirmed the urgency of creating a shared space for knowledge exchange and joint investigation.

Key Objectives of OpenADS

🌐 1. Establish a Cloud-Based Data Lake

The initiative aims to create a centralized Data Lake on OpenADS.cloud, enabling members to securely upload, store, and analyze raw data. This will:

  • Preserve critical data from local loss.
  • Enhance accessibility for researchers worldwide.
  • Support structured data workflows for processing and visualization.

Clear data use guidelines will be introduced to ensure responsible access, quality assurance, and respect for contributors’ rights.

🔧 2. Facilitate Knowledge Sharing on Data Collection Tools

OpenADS will also promote sharing of technical expertise in using equipment like sensors, cameras, and radar systems through:

  • Public documentation.
  • Private intranet access for members.
  • A structured framework for balancing open collaboration and commercial interests.

“Together we can unify research approaches and collect the unique, precise data about UAP and more.”

— PhD Assoc. Prof. Artem Bilyk, Head of SRCAA Zond

Collaborative Structure

OpenADS will operate through the following roles:

  • OpenADS Members – Active participants in planning and execution.
  • Expert Panels – External advisors offering domain-specific insights.
  • Work Groups – Task-specific teams tackling key challenges collaboratively.

Join the Initiative

Researchers and organizations interested in joining the OpenADS Initiative are encouraged to:

  • Contact Project Hessdalen (admin@hessdalen.org)
  • Attend the Kick-off Meeting on May 28, 2025. 20:00 CET

Together, we hope to enhance scientific recognition, attract funding opportunities, and strengthen the global research network dedicated to understanding UAP phenomena.
