Developer Program

By Fred Pallesen (Developer)
Country: NO

Learn, build, and collaborate with an international team shaping the digital future of Project Hessdalen.

The Project Hessdalen Developer Program invites programmers, students, and technology enthusiasts to contribute to one of the most fascinating citizen-science initiatives in the world.

Our goal is to build digital tools that support real scientific research — from data collection and analysis to public communication and field operations. By joining the program, you’ll collaborate with an international, interdisciplinary team and gain practical experience in web development, cloud infrastructure, AI, and data systems — while helping advance the study of unexplained atmospheric phenomena in Hessdalen, Norway.

Fred and I are colleagues, and we have collaborated on codelab side project. Fred is exceptionally responsible and has a genuine passion for emerging technologies. Moreover, he's an outstanding public speaker. His latest enthusiasm for the Hessdalen project is incredibly infectious. It's both fascinating and compelling, and I'm eager to join him in exploring new technologies and learning more about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs).

As the leader for 70 developers in Stavanger, I see that having interesting side projects is a great way of learning. Fred has done this by finding something he is passionate about, and is using this project to grow as a leader and manager. Joining him on this journey will be a great experience to learn both best practices and to dig into the unknown.

GitHub

GitHub

GitHub is the world’s leading platform for version control and collaborative software development using Git.
Why it matters: It allows developers to work together, track changes, and contribute to open-source projects — skills that are crucial in any modern development team.

React

React

React is a powerful JavaScript library for building fast, interactive user interfaces.
Why it matters: React dominates front-end web development today. Learning it helps developers create dynamic, real-time experiences — from dashboards to mobile apps — with reusable components.

Vercel

Vercel

Vercel is a modern cloud platform for deploying web applications instantly, often used with React and Next.js.
Why it matters: It makes it easy to take your code live with one click — enabling developers to focus on building features instead of managing servers or complex infrastructure.
